The domestic cyclo-cross season now over. Only a few circuit series running. Mainly the riders were recuperating and getting ready for the new road season ahead.
And sadly it was the month we said farewell to a very talented and important team member (and assistant DS), Sarah Lomas, who having suffered with a long term injury has decided to leave the team.
On 8th Feb after discussion with Team Manager Pat Hayes, Sarah Lomas tweeted “I’d like to say a massive thank you to
@livAWOLSpokd and all the sponsor’s for supporting me the last year and making me feel like part of the team. Unfortunately I’ve made the decision to leave them as I’m still injured and unsure when I will be back. Good luck to all the team.”
Despite being unable to compete in the race schedule she’d hope to, Sarah was an integral part of the team throughout 2018, and when not on her bike was always willing to step in and support the team in any way she could, like taking on Team DS duties for the Wattersley Ladies Challenge.
Pat Hayes DS, tweeted “Really sad day for all of us . So upsetting to see such a talented rider suffering from serious long term injury in this way.”
Charlotte McGreevy posted “Sad to see you go
@SarahLomas7 it’s been great being in a team with you. Going to miss you so much and I hope you get some good news in the near future. Thanks for all the great times”
She will be sorely missed by all the team members and Liv AWOL SPOK’D wish her all the very best with her recovery, and hope to see her whenever we’re racing nearby to her home town.
