This month I have been mainly focusing on continuing to build my fitness and just altering the focus from winter miles to speed in order to prepare myself for the race season which is fast approaching. All of this hard training has been made much more enjoyable due to my new Liv Envie bike from our sponsors AWOL London which has made me feel a whole lot faster.
To split up my training I have been competing in some of the track league races at London Lee Valley Velodrome. This is a really well organised competition and is very enjoyable. It consists of 4 races: scratch, 1km dash, elimination and points. I haven’t done a lot of track racing recently, so this has given me an opportunity to build on my skills and gain knowledge. I hope to compete in some higher profile track races later in the season.
At the end of January I took part in a race at Hillingdon. This was the first women’s race I had competed in and it was a great experience. I finished the race in 4th and was very pleased with my effort, especially as I did not know what to expect and was amongst the youngest participating. I hope to build on this result and learn from the race to improve for the coming season.
My race season will officially start on the 4th March and will continue onward. With some exciting events such as the South East Regional league, Castle Coombe and Bedford to name a few. I have also been lucky enough to gain a place in the European Junior Youth Tour in Assen.
I am really looking forward to racing with the Liv AWOL team and excited for the coming season.
